Fifteen-year-old Andrew Brown is being tipped as one of the most promising young sporting stars in Britain, after being given the prominent SportsAid's One To Watch Award.
As Topper World Champion, GB National Champion, GB Inland Champion and GB Nationwide Series Champion, Brown caught the judges' eyes and was presented with the award by Olympic gold medallist Ben Ainslie at the SportsAid Gala Ball in London last week.
Brown said on receiving the accolade: "It was a great honour to receive the prestigious SportsAid One To Watch Award. It is the top award in the country any young athlete could receive and I will do my best to justify my selection.
"It also helps to keep sailing on the map of successful sports in this country. It has pride of place on my shelf!"
He added: "I was selected for the RYA Laser Radial National Youth Squad in September, so it is now back to basics. My short-term goal is to get used to the Laser in top flight competition and to get a top ten place at the RYA Youth Nationals next April.
"In the medium term my target is to be selected for the ISAF Youth Worlds and win a gold medal."
Brown saw off competition from 2,000 other young sportsmen and women to be given the award by SportsAid, which is one of Britain's top charities working to fund and develop the careers of the sporting stars of the future.
