The Taiwanese government is drafting proposals to boost its yacht-building industry.
It is hoped that the reforms will enable at least one of the country' yacht companies to become one of the four largest in the world by 2015 - and will help the manufacturers to secure a larger slice of the increasingly lucrative super yacht market.
Among the moves being considered are improving infrastructure for industry clusters, training yacht design personnel, building laboratories to test ship functions and holding international yacht exhibitions, the Taipei Times reports.
Amendments could also be made to legal regulations with inspection bureaus integrated and inspection processes simplified.
The government expects the value of its yacht industry to hit £1.2 billion by 2015, an official from the country's Council for Economic Planning has said.
Taiwan is currently ranked seventh among yacht-building nations.
