The RYA Olympic Classes National Ranking Series came to a close this weekend, at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy, with both familiar faces and new names taking home prizes.
World Champions Stevie Morrison and Ben Rhodes took the overall Series crown, finishing just a point ahead of Paul Campbell-James and Mark Asquith in the 49er class, while the 470 class went to Luke Patience and Chris Grube - their second National Ranking Series title.
Fifteen-year-old Ali Masters, the recently-crowned Techno 293 under-17 windsurfing world champion, was the real star of the weekend, with a clean sweep of race wins in Weymouth, which saw him fend off far more experienced racers to win the overall series title.
Nick Dempsey, Skandia Team GBR's world bronze medallist, will no doubt be frustrated by the weekend's events - Dempsey had made it into the lead in the RS:X 9.5 class, only to see his efforts dashed and the top spot go to Leo McCallin, when he was disqualified from his last two races for failing to wear a buoyancy aid.
As would be expected, double Olympic gold medallist Ben Ainslie won in the Finn class, despite initially taking the wrong course in the first race of the event.
